On the outside, Path of Exile gives Path of Exile players a tried and tested Diablo-esque formulation: top-down point of additional reading view, conventional course archetypes, randomly generated maps and items, and also an air of horror and mystery. That, however, is where the similarity ends, as Path of Exile comes with a free-to-play version, and a very different skill system which gives Path of Exile players so much liberty with their personality builds.
